story Through ground breaking computer restoration technology, filmmaker Peter Jackson's team creates a moving real-to-life depiction of the WWI, as never seen before in restored, vivid colorizing & retiming of the film frames, in order to honor those who fought and more accurately depict this historical moment in world history
0:32 - 0:38 Happiness 100. “Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.”. What's weird is I had an ad for mortal engines and then mortal engines was in the video.
That was my feeling when ROTC ended “what was one going to do next?” “I dont want to go back”
Saw the movie the second time today, tis was great and I believe everyone should see it. A dime dozen, When will there be something creative. I watched this on TV in the UK in December. It really is amazing. The way they stabilised the variable framerates of the footage, and dubbed realistic audio over, was absolutely perfect. Is it just me or does the fact the Rafiki didnt have a staff in the lion king trailer make me mad asf. So glad you guys saw and enjoyed this. Over here in the UK it was shown on TV at the same time it was in theatres. Absolutely stunning documentary. The most shocking thing was how they were received upon returning home. “War is delightful to those who have had no experience of it.”. Should i be surprised that when london captures a city it stabs it to death.
I watched this on the plane. 1:28 YES.
Everyone over the age of 13 should be made to watch this.
This is simple exceptional work at every level from Peter Jackson and his team.
It showed the pure fragility of life, and how the soldiers dealt with it, mainly with humour and machine gun boiled tea.
It's haunting yet funny, disturbing yet uplifting. It's war. And this is the closest I ever want to come to it.
Mogli: I am not a man Me: are you a girl. Peter Jackson did an amazing job restoring these black and white film back to life again in fine details. This is a documentary, so if you are expecting to see a movie with a story line like fictional movies, this documentary will not be it.
You will truly experience what these young men went through and get to hear their real voices behind this war. It's actually on BBC2 tomorrow at 9pm in the UK. Cheers Joe's and that other guy.
“Alright boys, here it comes. Were in the pictures”. This is all British footage of the British because the imperial war museum asked Peter Jackson to make a 30 minute documentary for the 100th anniversary. Once Peter started, he just kept going. Sound was added to the footage using lip readers and voice actors from the area the soldiers were from. The narration is by men who were actually there, taken from recordings made in the 1950's and 60's. I would love to see French, German, and US versions using their own footage from that era. Peace.
Wow, this footage is gold worth, huge respect to the man who put his work on this. I loved this documentary. One of my favorites of all time and Im huge into history.
Maybe DICE should watch this. One of the most interesting, to me, details, is that Jackson identified the regional regiments from their cap badges and when the lip readers put words in their mouths, they were with the correct regional accent. Talk about attention to detail! Astounding. Goosebumps...
Get you next time Jerry.
“I gave every part of my youth to do a job” that really hit home
0:32 Still in the pictures over 100 years later. James earl jones.
